Mei-Ling's Forever Mommy

Susan Von Tobel was born to an adventurous heritage in Las Vegas Nevada in the 1940's, amidst much growth and change in the city. In her children's books, beginning with Mei-Ling's Forever Mommy, she draws on her own personal experiences and her adoption of a two year old girl from China. Her experience helped her to attain a deeper understanding, and appreciation for differences between people, and how families can come together. She sees this appreciation for others' ideas and beliefs, religion and culture, as a step toward uniting our society. The more polarized the world becomes, the more critical is this concept for children to understand and develop.

Her dream is for a society who can live in peace with others of different colors, race, religion, education, and beliefs. We can see in her books how perseverance, acceptance and love can bring people together.
